MariPlace takes the protection of your personal data seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, why, how we use it and what your rights are. It applies to the mariplace.mu website and to our concierge, portage and permit-support services in Mauritius.

Data controller

The data controller is DevsApps Ltd (the company operating the MariPlace brand), whose details are provided in the website legal notice.

Data we collect

Contact data you provide: first name, last name, email address, phone number, nationality.

The content of your requests: messages, booking details (dates, property, number of guests), information relating to a portage or permit case.

WhatsApp exchanges: the content of messages and files you send us, as well as your WhatsApp profile name.

Technical data: language and currency preferences, and data strictly necessary for the website to function.

Purposes and legal bases

Answering your requests and getting back to you (legitimate interest and pre-contractual measures).

Managing your bookings and your portage or permit cases (performance of a contract or pre-contractual measures).

Communicating with you, including via WhatsApp, when you initiate the exchange or consent to it (consent and legitimate interest).

Meeting our legal and accounting obligations (legal obligation).

Recipients of the data

Your data is processed by the internal MariPlace team, duly authorised and bound by confidentiality.

It may be processed by our technical service providers acting on our behalf: the website host and Meta Platforms (WhatsApp Business Platform) for WhatsApp messaging.

We never sell your data and do not share it with third parties for commercial purposes.

Transfers outside Mauritius

Using WhatsApp involves the processing of certain data by Meta Platforms, which may include a transfer outside Mauritius, governed by the safeguards provided by Meta.

Other than that, we host and process your data under conditions designed to protect it.

Retention period

We keep your data for as long as necessary for the purposes described, then for the applicable legal periods (notably accounting).

Requests that do not lead to a service are kept for a limited time, then deleted or anonymised.

Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures: encryption of sensitive data (email and phone), access restricted to authorised staff, and logging of actions on the data.

Your rights

In accordance with the Data Protection Act 2017 (Mauritius) and, where applicable, the GDPR for individuals located in the European Union, you have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability of your data.

You may exercise these rights by contacting us at the address below. We may ask you to confirm your identity.

You may also lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority: the Data Protection Office in Mauritius, or your local authority if you reside in the European Union.
